19th Century Oak Cheval Mirror

A girlfriend of mine found this mirror and thought of me!

It's a 19th Century Oak Cheval Free Standing Mirror. I knew it needed a trip to rehab.....A new Shabby Modern look....

I repainted it in a Heirloom White color to start. Then I found this Spray Crackle Paint, and I had not tried that treatment before so I applied that....ten times!! The thicker the paint the better the crackle.
The spray crackle smell almost killed me right through my painters mask! I would get the one in a can that you apply with a brush next time, it's easier to apply it thicker with a brush then applying it ten times with a spray can paint!
It crackled to my pleasure. I also applied a small Wood Applique to the top of the Mirror. I then used my favorite Blackened Bronze Metallic Surfacer and gave it that Time Worn Vintage Feel!
MUCH BETTER!

A closer look at the Crackle and Applique...
